Be Gentle

When you come across a new cleaning problem that you haven't encountered before, it's always best to start with the LEAST aggressive method for handling it and move into the more aggressive method if needed. This includes chemical, cleaning pads, etc.
Obviously that is so you don't ruin or damage anything in the process of cleaning it.Also, check with cleaning reps about chemical interaction so as to make sure you don't create a volatile situation.
Or just do what I do - ASK SOMEONE! Your janitorial supply houses have probably run into a similar situation and can help you solve your problem a lot quicker and with a lot less headache.
Hope this helps!

Where were you?

Six years ago today, The United States endured one of the worst attacks on our soil ever recorded. I remember standing in our living room watching in horror as the events unfolded on TV. My daughter was only a month old and I remember thinking "What kind of world have I brought her into?"
I remember all of the flags flying after that in a statement of solidarity. I drove around today and maybe saw a handful of flags out.
We must never forget the innocent victims of that day and those who fought to try to save them. Please show your support today by flying your flag at the very least.
Observe a moment of silence and say a small prayer for their families as today is a difficult day for them.
God Bless America.

While we're on the subject...

When I was a police officer, we had a little saying that went "you can never have enough training..."
Same applies to whatever you do.It's not just time for kids to go back to school. I am attending a staffing seminar next month to learn better ways of hiring and staffing my sites. I look forward to it because that will help me to grow and go after more business.
If you want to stay on top of your profession, you must constantly be learning. Whether it's academically or on new methods or technology. The Internet, your local Chamber of Commerce or business partners are good places to start looking where you can find classes, etc. to improve your skills.
Plus it shows that you think enough of yourself and your profession to stay informed. Change is inevitable. Roll with it...

Back to School...

I apologize for not posting for awhile. Between my little girl going back to school and just taking care of business in general, there just aren't enough hours in the day...
Kids like to share things. When you put a bunch of kids together in one room with computers, desks, art stuff and books - you've got a playground for germs.
This year when you send your child back to school, put a travel pack of sanitary wipes in their book bag and show them how and when to use them. This will help them to keep clean in general, and you will be teaching them about germs and how they can make them sick.
Have a great school year and hope this helps...

Cleaningtips.com

I recently received an email from Loren Yadeski over at Cleaningtips.com so I checked it out. They got a good thing going over there and I'm getting ready to join them. They have a great layout and an area to submit your cleaning tips whatever they may be. Knowledge is power and as the old cliche goes "two heads are better than one."
Loren just posted an article that I think will make everyone appreciate cleaning in an "up close and personal" manner. Check out the article here.

Not just for hair anymore...

Something that I have found is coming on strong in the cleaning industry is peroxide based cleaners. I currently use a product that is peroxide based and I use it on glass, carpets and floors and it works great!
Peroxide based cleaners are more versatile and can be used for different applications. They also, in my opinion, are more effective. The product I use can be used for spotting and cleaning carpets and the spots don't wick back after cleaning.
Give them a try. If you have questions or want more information, feel free to email me.

"All work and no play..."

When you own your own business, it's easy to immerse yourself in your business. On the other hand, this may cause problems. If you are a young single person, you need to schedule down time for yourself. Take your vacations or off days. You need that to recharge yourself. I've found if I get a day or two off, I come back with a better attitude and a fresh outlook.
If you're married and/or have children you have to allow yourself your time with your family and kids. They only grow up once. As well as make time for yourself to recharge. Putting even additional time constraints on your already limited asset.
We won't even touch on this topic from a health point of view. Both mentally and physically.
The old adage "All work and No Play" certainly applies here. If you just keep burning the candle at both ends you will eventually go up in smoke. Plus you deserve to give yourself a break.
My friend who is also in this business just got back from his first real vacation in ten years!
Don't get me wrong. I'm all about business. But there has to be an even keel between work and play. Take care and stay sane. Hope you found this helpful.
